This course will be of benefit to all the workers involved in performing lifting loading and signaling operations.

Objectives of Training
Health and Safety Legislation; Rigger’s Responsibilities; Wire rope, its construction and Safe Working Load (SWL) Maintenance, Inspection and parameters for safe use of all lifting appliances.
Wire Rope Tolerances - Design Tolerances. Correct use of wire rope slings, synthetic, webbing slings, chain slings, shackles, eyebolts and hooks. Estimating the size of sling required to carry out the work safely and efficiently.
Wire Rope Sling Capacity Chart. How to use the slings to increase their lifting capacity. Prevention of damage to the slings during lifts. Recommended procedures for maintenance and storage of all lifting equipment.
Basic principles of hand chain blocks, tirfors, pull lift and hoist etc. Pre-use inspection parameters. Maintenance and storage recommendation. Crane Signals: Correct use and positioning of the person giving the signal and emergency stop procedure
Understand roles and responsibilities of Banksman
Ensure the safe passage of reversing vehicles in confined spaces
Identify areas of danger within the site,
Demonstrate site rules and recommended code of signals
Guide large goods vehicles, both rigid and articulated, using the code of signals
Understand importance of communication.
